Like I mentioned earlier this month, one of my goals for this year is finding ways to better manage out budget, and one of the ways I’m learning to do that is by shopping a couple of seasons ahead for Noah’s clothes.
I can remember my mom doing this when I was a kid. I would roll my eyes as we sifted through racks of clearance items to find stuff that was below whatever price point she had deemed acceptable. The good thing for Noah is that now, with online shopping, choices in the clearance section have greatly improved. The good thing for me is that at this age, he can already wear a lot of the things I ordered, which means I get even more use out of them — really getting my money’s worth by using them this winter and hopefully next winter, too.
I was recently given a chance to shop for some winter clothes for Noah on Cookie’s Kids, a shop that has an online presence and that also has seven brick-and-mortar stores in the NYC area in Bronx, Brooklyn and Jamaica. The amount of brands available on the site is impressive, with everything from North Face backpacks to Baby Phat items (I kid you not, there’s a hoodie on there that I would totally buy if it came in adult sizes).
I bought this adorable jacket for less than $10!
For $35 shipped, I was able to buy Noah three new shirts, a jacket and a pair of footed pajamas. I’m especially excited about the jacket, because those can run a little on the expensive side at this age — this one was only $9.99!
This Elmo shirt is no longer available, but there are a lot of other great clearance shirts starting at $1.99. Also: My heart can hardly deal with the fact that he’s already wearing a 2T shirt. He went crazy over this shirt, so he’s wearing it today.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with my purchases from Cookie’s Kids and the shopping process. The site was easily searchable by clearance items, size and price, plus it offers the Alva Kids sizing tool to help ensure you get the right size for your kiddo.
I love seeing Noah in footed jammies, and these “Mom’s Little Hero” pajamas are perfect.
Additionally, the Cookie’s Kids team really went above and beyond to ensure I had a great experience. When I tried to check out, the free shipping coupon code I received in a Cookie’s Kid email wasn’t working, so I tweeted @CookiesKids and got an almost immediate response. They were able to figure out what the issue was and get it corrected extremely quickly (probably less than an hour from my first tweet to resolution). I’m an extremely happy customer and would gladly recommend Cookie’s Kids to anyone who loves to shop online and get good deals!
This is just an example of how helpful Cookie’s Kids’ customer service was. They did a great job!

I know, right? I always see adorable coats for my kids and wonder at the high prices. I mean, it is like a 1/10th of the size and fabric!
Great finds. I was a pro at this when my kids were in the baby/toddler stage. Now it is getting harder to shop ahead because their growth spurts are less steady… and most of the time their upper and lower halves can’t agree on how much to grow at once. My 5-year old grew 2 pant sizes in just one season! Thanks for sharing your frugalista moment.
Thank you for sharing! I have been wanting a few nice jackets and things, but just can’t make myself buy anything because it’s sooo expensive and he can only wear it a few months! I will have to check them out!
